Paparazzo takes aim at ACA host Tracy Grimshaw over double standards

WHEN A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw posted a make-up free selfie on Instagram to thwart a paparazzo attempting to get a snap of her, it was met with praise from fans and followers.
However, when the bloke trying to get the snap delivered the ultimate smackdown, Grimshaw deleted it.
Stephen Cook, the former assistant editor of New Zealand’s Herald on Sunday, was the man behind the lens last week, attempting to get the shot of Grimshaw “without make-up or hair done, looking unkept and flushed from working, preferable with #restingbitchface,” according to the TV host’s post.
While fellow celebrities such as Megan Gale celebrated Grimshaw for the move, Cook provided a rebuttal which clearly hit a nerve with the ACA veteran.
“Tracy there is a rich irony here that for whatever reason seems lost on you,” he commented on her post.
“With blinding righteous indignation, you condemn the paparazzi while ignoring the fact that in the over-exaggerated, sensationalised world of tabloid current affairs your show adopts the very same practises (sic) as they do.
“Five days a week, you chase and hound people to the ends of the Earth in the name of ‘serious journalism’, when in reality your show is nothing more than tabloid TV designed to boost Channel 9’s ratings and advertising revenue.”

He ended his spiel by reminding the Channel 9 host that the ACA team won an industry award thanks to footage from a pap.
“You will remember ACA was recognised at a journalism awards gala for its coverage of the Mitchell Pearce dog scandal,” he wrote.
“That video was provided to ACA by none other than the paparazzi. If you’re going to vilify the paparazzi one minute you cannot accept the content they provide the next.”
Ouch.
