SECURING a three-year deal with Channel 9’s powerhouse drama Love Child before she has even graduated from drama school has made Sophia Forrest one of the country’s hottest young actors.
The daughter of mining mogul Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest will fly to Western Australia today ahead of her graduation at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), before starting filming on Love Child next week.
It was on a trip to WAAPA that scouts from Channel 9 spotted Forrest.
One of Forrest’s mentors at WAAPA, professor of performance Andrew Lewis, said he knew she had the X-factor: “I put her in the top tier of talent we have seen at WAAPA. She is a great person with a lot of integrity.”
“She really excelled in the film work.”
He said Channel 9 was not the only station interested in offering Forrest work.
“Many agents saw her abilities. There was a lot of interest in her,” he said.
