Newcastle Knights captain Mitchell Pearce knew from his first date with Kristin Scott that he wanted to marry her.
The halfback has revealed it was Scott’s initial lack of footy knowledge that attracted to him to her.
“When I first Mitch I didn’t know anything about footy … on our first date I actually asked Mitch if halfback means you play half a game,” Scott told website Cuppa of Life Cafe. “Now I’m a footy head!”
“As soon as she said that, I said “Marry Me!,” Pearce said of the dancer, who was originally from Wollongong.
The couple appeared on the charity webinar to talk about their new business venture, a barre studio in Newcastle.
But they also shared that as well as setting up their business, they are busy planning for their wedding which is just five weeks away.
“It’s December 29,” Pearce said.
The couple became engaged in May, after Pearce proposed with a $40,000 ring after they had been dating for just a year.
Scott told guests of the webinar she “doesn’t think too deeply” about being married to a footballer, while Pearce imagined the feeling of the wedding day will compare to his 2013 NRL grand final win with The Roosters.
“The highlight for me was winning the grand final at the Roosters … That is the stand out. It’s such a hard thing to achieve and there is no better feeling … Other than when you get married, I’m sure,” he said.
