PUNK rock veteran ‘Fat Mike’ Burkett has taken to Twitter to apologise for punching and kicking a fan who crept up on him during a concert in Sydney.
The lead singer of Californian band NOFX delivered the violent rebuke when the fan, known as Alex, jumped on stage and put his arm around the singer’s neck.

Despite the well-connected punch-kick combination, Alex was quick to defend Burkett on social media.
“Calm down guys, it didn’t even hurt,” he said on Twitter.
He then tweeted Burkett and apologised for provoking the attack.
“Thanks for the KO mike, didn’t hurt too much. Soz for creepin up on you like, punk shows are a bit different down here,” he wrote.

The rocker responded with his own apology and an offered to buy Alex a beer if he turned up at tomorrow night’s second Sydney concert.

“I’m sorry too Alex, I was in terrible pain all night. When you grabbed me by the neck I defensively reacted... offensively,” Burkett tweeted.
“Alex, if you go to the show on friday I’ll buy you a beer. Just don’t throw it at me alright?”
The Enmore concert was the first of their largely sold out Australian tour.
