Nice day for a white wetting: the wedding dress you can swim in

It’s the craze which until now has left brides risking sacrificing their frock for the perfect wedding shot. Now they can take the plunge in a gown that’s a waterproof world first.

It is a social media craze that can have disastrous ramifications — jumping into a pool or the ocean in your wedding dress.

Worth it for The ‘Gram, maybe. Not so much the dress.

Until now.

Aussie bridal label Grace Loves Lace has come up with a solution, releasing a world-first wedding gown designed to be swum in.

The Daily Telegraph put the ZsaZsa dress to the test in a break from the rainy weather at Bronte’s ocean pool, modelled by Natalie Roser.

“It was quite a magical experience swimming around in a gown, something I have never done before so it is nice to tick that off the bucket list of photo shoots,” the model and business owner said.

“When you are planning a wedding, you scroll through Pinterest and you see these amazing photos of brides swimming with their husband after their wedding.

“It is something that a lot of women would be nervous about because you don’t want to ruin your wedding dress but if your wedding dress is literally designed to swim in, I don’t see why you wouldn’t take that opportunity.”

Roser is married to actor Harley Bonner and joked that the couple could wed again so they could do a pool shoot in their formal attire.

The Grace Loves Lace gown is made from ‘luminescent lycra’ and was born out of founder Megan Ziems recognising the trend of destination weddings and brides jumping into the water in their dress on.

“I know our bride loves a destination wedding and even more, she knows how to have fun.” Ziems said.

“We are frequently seeing our brides finish the night in the pool or the ocean after their reception and ‘trashing the dress’ photoshoots are also a huge trend in the US where 60 percent of our customer is based.

“So, we thought why not create a gown purpose built for just that.

Post-Covid we are seeing an increase in brides heading to Europe and the Islands specifically Bali, Fiji and Thailand. I think our gowns are often synonymous with destination weddings, they’re comfortable, lightweight for travel and non-traditional which align well with elopements and destination weddings.
