“When they found out that Scott was single, they were straight to him with the offer to be the next Bachelor,” a source close to Tweedie said.
“They were super excited about the possibility. Scott is already comfortable in front of the camera, he is very different to the recent guys which have been on the show.”
Tweedie is said to be sceptical on the gig, fearful how a stint on the reality TV show could impact his career.
“Scott would be great, but I doubt he will do it, He doesn’t seem very keen,” the insider said.
“He has worked pretty hard to get where he is and this could impact his future. And he hardly needs help with the ladies, he is fielding more than a couple of offers.”
Tweedie dated model Georgia Berg for five years, but the pair quietly split just last month.
Insiders on the production have revealed that they prefer using a Bachelor or Bachelorette with a pre-existing public profile.
Originally from Queensland, Tweedie moved to Sydney to follow a career in TV. After working at ABC, he was picked-up by Channel 10 and has become their go-to guy in recent years.
Next month he will head to South Africa to work on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
Channel 10 would not confirm if Tweedie was a potential for The Bachelor when the show returns in 2019.
“Casting for The Bachelor Australia is now open. No decision has yet been made.”
