New music for Lindsay Lohan: ‘I want to keep it upbeat but honest’
Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, who has been spending time in Australia shooting reality show, The Masked Singer, has revealed new music is on the way. It has been 14 years since her last release.

Working on Aussie TV show The Masked Singer inspired Lindsay Lohan to work on her first new music in 14 years.
The American star spent several weeks filming the reality singing show in Sydney in July and August with the first episode to premiere on Channel 10 at 7.30pm on Monday September 23.
“I am working on a record,” Lohan told Confidential.
“I was writing music with a friend of mine (Australian musician) Patrick James when I was there. We were writing on the few days that I had off. And Conrad Sewell is a good friend of mine but we kept missing each other.”
Lohan, who this week sparked a flurry of music rumours by teasing a song titled Xanax on social media, continued: “I think the thing with the music I have been doing recently now, I feel like if it is a sad word for the song, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a sad song. I want to keep it upbeat but honest.”
Lohan, 33, who made her acting debut as a child star in 1998s The Parent Trap, is on The Masked Singer panel alongside Jackie O Henderson, Dave Hughes and Dannii Minogue.
The format originated in South Korea, where it was called King of Mask Singer, with the series to feature 12 celebrities singing in head to toe costumes with their faces concealed by masks. Their identities will be unknown to other contestants as well as the judges, who will do their best to identify the singer solely from their voice and a series of clues.
“I was nervous in the beginning that I wasn’t going to know where to start and guess but I had help from the panel,” explained Lohan, who had not visited Australia before shooting. “On top of that, it was actually fun for me to get to know Australian talent. It was a nice experience for me and a good learning one.
An early promo clip of the show features Lohan saying: “It was so good I am about to cry”.
Asked what made her shed a tear, she said: “All of us had our own moments and also the songs that are chosen all have meanings to everyone in different ways. One of them we all started to get choked up on because these people are putting a lot of effort into it and it just comes out and it is really beautiful in the end.”
Lohan extended her trip by almost two weeks so she could explore and get to know Sydney “just because I wanted to spend more time there”.
“I had a really nice time,” she said, adding that she learnt to speak with an Australian accent by watching comedian Chris Lilley’s character, Ja’mie. “Chris was in town too so I would ask him who I should guess for certain people. When they did take off the mask and you see that the person is not necessarily a singer or a musician, it was really cool to see they were able to come out of their skin when they were behind the mask.”
Looking ahead, she intends on returning Down Under sooner rather than later.
“I will hopefully do a second season,” she said. “And maybe I will find a project for a film that will come up. I’d like to come back in summer.”
