The 42-year-old is back for five weeks, beginning with a movie-length special of the hit Eleven soap tonight.

When Izzy first popped up in Erinsborough the money-hungry man-eater made waves by having an affair with the beloved Dr Karl and claiming to be pregnant with his baby.

And her notoriety shows no signs of waning.

“If you loved to hate her before, you’re going to love to hate her even more this time around,” Bassingthwaighte said.

“Compared with the previous storylines, this tops it. Anything could happen.”

She revealed to Confidential in October last year she constantly gets asked when she is returning to Ramsay St.

“They’ve been asking me for quite a while to go back but it just didn’t feel like the right time in the past,” the mother of two said.

The Neighbours return is a guest role, although it will see her character on air for a number of months.

“They wanted me a bit longer and I gave them what I could,” she said.

“In the last few years I feel like I’ve really fallen in love with acting and playing characters so I’m dipping my toe back in as Izzy because she is a really fun character and very different to the ones I’ve played in the last couple of years.
