MKR beauty queen duo admit they’re nervous about being judged
They’re no strangers to the Mrs Australia catwalk, but two former beauty queens know appearing on My Kitchen Rules is going to be no cakewalk.
If you’ve ever wondered whether being a beauty queen or reality TV contestant is more gruelling, it’s “definitely” the latter, according to contestants on the upcoming My Kitchen Rules series.
Veronica Cristovao and Piper O’Neill, from Sydney, are both former Mrs Australia winners.
“MKR was more difficult, 100 per cent”, O’Neill, who won Mrs Australia in 2015 when she was 36 weeks pregnant.
Funnily enough, with just over a week until they’re plastered all over our screens, the best friends admit they’re nervous about being judged.
“We are a bit worried about how people are going to perceive us but we know who we are and our friends know us,” O’Neill, 35, said.
However Cristovao, 41, thinks their experience as beauty queens will help them deal with any backlash.
“As beauty queens, we’ve dealt with people perceiving us in a certain way when that’s not the way we are.”
“At the end of the day, people are going to have their opinions, whether it’s positive or negative, so you’ve got to go with it.”
Channel 7’s My Kitchen Rules starts Monday 28 at 7pm
