Miranda Kerr, the fashion blank canvas

MIRANDA Kerr isn’t the first woman to dress to please a man and won’t be the last but, as transformations go, there have been few more extreme fashion departures than from Kerr in recent years.

MIRANDA Kerr isn’t the first woman to dress to please a man and won’t be the last but, as transformations go, there have been few more extreme fashion departures than from Kerr in recent years.

After capturing Orlando Bloom’s eye in 2008 while starring on the Victoria’s Secret runway in butterfly wings and a set on lingerie, Kerr borrowed heavily from his ex love Kate Bosworth’s style book in cultivating a look that might best be defined as urbane street style.

In slim-fitting mod-inspired cropped jeans and casual boots, often accessorised with scarfs and hats that complimented Bloom’s own look, Kerr presented as a practical yet chic young woman who was ready for a great jetsetting adventure.

The world may have appreciated her curves on the runway for Victoria’s Secret but there was no need to show them off gratuitously off runway and so there were few overt sexual displays. Bloom liked a low maintenance woman and Kerr happily embraced the look well-into maternity and motherhood.

As the couple’s relationship unravelled in 2013, Kerr’s style did a swift about face. As it emerged Kerr had captured the eye of billionaire James Packer, a man who famously loves breasts, Kerr started to acquired sexy plunging glamour gowns.

A breast enhancement was rumoured to have taken place soon after her split from Bloom and by Christmas 2014 Kerr was posing topless and provocatively for fashion magazines. By March 2014, five months after Kerr and Bloom confirmed their split, Kerr was hovering solo on the fringe of the Academy Awards’ celebrations taking place in Los Angeles as Packer was sinking his money into Hollywood’s film industry.

For her Vegas casino magnate, Kerr had successfully transformed herself into a Bond girl, a style lately being attempted by Packer’s latest love interest, Mariah Carey.

Few could have foreseen her latest U-turn back to demure 1950s whitegoods model for Silicon Valley billionaire Evan Spiegle, her new fiance.

With her breasts well covered and her hair pulled back severely, one might imagine her next stop is the White House.
