REJECTION is not something you would expect Miranda Kerr to have experienced much.
But the Australian supermodel said she had had her share of setbacks as she mentored young hopefuls on the set of Foxtel’s Australia’s Next Top Model.
“Inevitably rejection is going to happen in this career. I’ve had so much rejection myself with my career, and it’s because I didn’t take it personally and I just had fun with it, that is why I feel I’ve continued my career as long as I have,” Kerr said.
It has been 20 years since she got her break as a model and Kerr has gone on to become one of our biggest fashion stars, including a stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
“I never ever envisioned that it would last this long,” she said. “I can’t believe I am modelling 20 years later, it is kind of wild really.”
It is very much a different world now to when she first started and one Kerr admits is hard to navigate at times, particularly with the increased focus on social media. She has strict rules around featuring her son Flynn, 5.
“I wear my heart on my sleeve but you have to also protect a part of yourself,” explained Kerr, who coincidentally is dating Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel.
“I’m a proud mum so I want to somehow include my son but I try not to show his face. I might show off a nice drawing he’s done or something cute where I’m a proud mother but not putting him out there too much.”
