Hospitality mogul Justin Hemmes’s plan to reinvigorate Sydney’s CBD has taken another step with the opening of his latest venue and good news, it’s open late.
Hospitality mogul Justin Hemmes’s plan to reinvigorate Sydney’s CBD has taken another step with the opening of his latest venue Little Felix.
A sister venue to French bistro Felix, the new bar will help to quench the thirst for late-night venues, licensed to operate until 2am, with an eye on the future once the light rail is completed.
“With the revitalisation of the city we need the venues to coincide with it,” Merivale CEO Mr Hemmes said.
“I’m just trying to do my part by adding diversity and interesting venues. Little Felix is very comfortable … you go in there and get transported to another place and time.”
It is one of many openings to come as Mr Hemmes launches his “ivy 2.0” expansion in conjunction with the commencement of tram services and George St pedestrianisation.
The goal is to make the CBD a vibrant hub of activity after the slump caused by the light rail construction, as Mr Hemmes said: “For progress you need to experience the hard slog.”
Little Felix venue manager Joseph Stephens said the French-inspired drinks menu would lure people into the city.
“For our cocktail list we’ve taken classic French cocktails and customised them,” he said.
“And we are the only place in Sydney to pour all our wine from magnums (1.5L bottles).
“It’s an extra piece of extravagance and elegance.”
