The second last episode of Married At First Sight smashed the season’s record with 1.858 million viewers and one of the show’s most controversial characters is wondering how we’ll cope without it.
The show started on January 28 and has retained No. 1 spot for all 41 episodes that have aired. Viewership did not dip below the 1 million mark with the average ratings coming in at around 1.4 million for the whole season.
MAFS “bride” Jessika Power is worried about how Australia will cope now that the jaw-dropping season has ended.

“Everybody enjoyed watching a bit of Jess Power this year, didn’t they?” she told Confidential.
“I’m not sure how you’ll all cope. Once you’re hooked on something, it’s difficult. You’ll have to wait for a new season.”
MAFS 2019 ends tonight after a season of cheating, lying, wife-swapping, wine-throwing, spray-tanning, lip-injecting and verbal and physical threats.
Asked why the latest season resonated so strongly, posting record-breaking ratings figures, Power said: “It’s a way to escape. It’s not brain numbing, but it’s like … a car crash in slow motion. People like to invest in that. I think people watch us and go: ‘Far out, at least my life isn’t that bad.’”
Power was “married” to Mick Gould, but hooked up with another “groom” Dan Webb and continued on the experiment with him.
While the show has been a ratings bonanza, this was just one of the many controversies that had viewers up in arms.
Petitions circulated the internet calling for the show and “experts” to be axed while Channel 9 and production company Endemol Shine have also been criticised for allowing abusive behaviours not only happen but also go to air.
Channel 10’s reality romance show Bachelor in Paradise begins on Tuesday night, hoping to fill the void MAFS will leave.
