Jake Edwards lucked-out on finding true love on trashy reality show Married At First Sight but has found the real thing off screen.
The charity CEO and new partner Sophie Guidolin have finally confirmed their relationship, saying marriage and kids are on the cards.
“One of the conversations we had early, within 10 minutes I said to her I wouldn’t waste any time … we both want kids together,” Edwards told Confidential.
“I didn’t want to muck around. I knew that she was a mum and I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time so I was straight into it with being married and wanting kids. And Sophie was absolutely all for it. I went on that show trying to find love and didn’t so I am so grateful that I have found that now with Sophie.”
He added: “Marriage is around the corner, I am hoping.”
Edwards, 33, originally from Victoria, and Guidolin, 32, who has four kids from a previous relationship, met the old fashioned way — on social media.
It was Guidolin, who is based in Queensland, south of the Gold Coast, that made the first move on Instagram last year before Edwards began shooting the controversial reality show, where he was partnered with Rebecca Zemek.
.
They met up after production had wrapped and, despite rumours, have done their best to keep the relationship on the down-low while the show has been on air due to MAFS confidentiality agreements in place.
“I definitely underestimated how hard it was going to be,” said Guidolin. “It has been really hard because every single day there is a new article written and it is just absolute crap. It is such a horrible feeling.”
It has been difficult for Edwards to watch on not being able to say anything as she was trolled on social media.
“What do you do when you fall in love, which is what happened?” Edwards questioned.
“Are you supposed to hide it? Are you supposed to not hang around each other. It has been really hard in that the expectation from general public is that they don’t understand that filming finished several months earlier and life goes on.”
Guidolin is a successful fitness influencer, nutritionist and author with more than 533,000 followers on Instagram, as well as hosting her own podcast, Flourish & Fulfilled.
Of his relationship with Guidolin’s children, Edwards, 33, said: “I knew Sophie had a family before we even connected. It is something I have been open to. A couple of years ago I started thinking that I wanted my own family.
“Being around Sophie and her kids is something I am very grateful for. They are great kids. To be honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“She is an amazing mum and that part of her is something that I am extremely attracted to.”
In the finale of the reality show this week meanwhile, it was revealed Edwards’ reality TV bride had cheated on him before they said their final vows.
