Mad Max actor Richard Carter dies after brief illness on Saturday
Australian actor Richard Carter died over the weekend from a brief illness, his management team have announced. He starred in countless roles from big blockbusters to local television shows.
Mad Max actor Richard Carter has died at the age of 65.
Carter passed away on Saturday morning with his management announcing his death “after a brief illness”.
“He was an esteemed actor, a storyteller, and someone who touched the lives of many,” Lisa Mann Creative Management wrote in a statement.

“Richard has starred in some of the most iconic television and films this country has ever produced. From the cutting edge Australian television series Wildside, White Collar Blue and Blue Murder — his roles are too numerous to mention.
“His work in film ranged from Bootmen all the way to The Great Gatsby and Mad Max: Fury Road again with too many to mention in between.
“His voice could be heard in film from Happy Feet 1 & 2 to television commercials for Victoria Bitter and Toyota — he covered the whole spectrum.”
Carter is survived by wife Lindsey and daughter Amy. A private memorial service will be held to celebrate his life.
“His generosity knew no bounds and his loss is too great to quantify,” the statement read.
“He will be sorely missed.”
Comedian Julia Morris was among the many taking to social media to pay tribute to Carter.
“Am so sad to hear of the passing of the magnificent Richard Carter,” she wrote on Instagram.
“In my early days, when female stand ups were not really celebrated, Richard was the very essence of support. He was a true gentleman.”
