LIAM Payne has toured the world as a member of one of the world’s biggest pop bands, sold millions of albums and partied with Hollywood superstars but it was in Sydney that the former One Directioner had one of the craziest moments of his career.

The 25-year-old has recalled the moment a diehard fan climbed two storeys on to the balcony of his Whale Beach hotel to steal his red Calvin Klein undies.

“I honestly miss Australia, I mean there’s been a little bit of carnage over there with the fans in the past when that girl stole my boxers and stuff like that, it was kind of crazy,” Payne told Sunday Confidential by phone from the UK ahead of his arrival in Sydney this week to perform at the world’s richest race on turf, The Everest on Saturday.

That incident was back in 2010 when Payne was staying at boutique hotel Jonah’s while touring with One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan.

Payne will take to the stage at Royal Randwick, following The Everest race that has a prize pool of $13 million and a Cerrone trophy bejewelled with 8000 diamonds.

He will perform new single Polaroid, a collaboration with Jonas Blue and Lennon Stella, live for the first time when he takes to a specially built stage.
