Anthony Albanese has refused to say whether he’ll be manning the DJ deck at Kyle Sandilands’ upcoming wedding — but has confirmed he will be there.
The Prime Minister and NSW Premier Chris Minns have both been invited to attend the lavish nuptials of the radio host and his longtime partner, Tegan Kynaston.
Speaking after a meeting of national cabinet on Friday, Mr Albanese confirmed he’ll be attending but stayed curiously tight-lipped on whether there will be a return of his alter ego — DJ Albo.
“One of the things about Kyle Sandilands — I'll say this — a bloke who at one stage was homeless, living on the streets of Sydney, and has grown into someone who is a significant public figure, is a part of what is an Australian success story,” he said.
Mr Albanese promised last year he would spin the DJ deck should he big invited to the radio king’s big day.
The much anticipated wedding, which is reported to cost more than $1m, will take place at Swifts mansion in Sydney’s Darling Point.
In an interview between Sandilands and Mr Albanese earlier this week, the radio jock revealed the PM would also be charged with keeping his mother company at the wedding.
“She’s a fan of yours, so she’s going to lose her mind,” Sandilands told him live on air.
However not everyone is feeling festive about the big day, with Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley questioning why Mr Albanese will be “spinning decks at a million dollar wedding when people can’t afford their rent”.
“There is nothing wrong with going to a friend's wedding but it is curious the Prime Minister thinks he can take a day off just days before his first real budget,” she said.
“The test of that budget will be whether (Mr) Albanese gives Australians a start date for the $275 reduction in power prices, a start date for the cheaper mortgages Labor promised and a start date for real wage rises.
“It’s hard to see how the Prime Minister can justify being there tomorrow when there are still no answers on those promises.”
A-listers attending Kyle Sandilands’ wedding this weekend
Meanwhile, the stage is set for the celebrity wedding of the year.
As well the Prime Minister, NSW Premier Chris Minns is up the top of the guest list and chart topper Guy Sebastian is headline act at the reception.
The much-anticipated wedding is tipped to cost more than $1 million with the flower bill alone sitting around $150,000.
The couple will say their ‘I do’s’ midafternoon surrounded by close family and friends with some prominent faces set to celebrate at Swifts mansion in Darling Point.
Karl Stefanovic and wife Jasmine have RSVP-ed, as has Kings Cross business identity John Ibrahim, who is one of Sandilands’ closet mates is a groomsman.
Simon Main is best man while Sandilands long-time radio colleague and manager Bruno Bouchet is also in the wedding party.
On Kynaston’s side as bridesmaids will be five childhood girlfriends she has known since school.
Sandilands KIIS 106.5 breakfast co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson will of course be on hand as a guest, as will former rugby league star and The Amazing Race host Beau Ryan and former champion boxer Jeff Fenech.
Conrad Sewell and Samantha Jade will also perform at the reception that will be held in a large marquee erected on the property.
It is Sandilands’ second wedding, as he was previously married to singer Tamara Jaber.
Sandilands and Kynaston are parents to beloved young son, Otto, who he said in January would be at the wedding in a “ridiculous little suit squirming like a piece of meat”.

“The Prime Minister is DJ-ing at the wedding — he promised that prior to the election and then I reminded him twice and he’s like ‘Yes, so a promise is a promise’,” he told The Sunday Telegraph.
Guests were told gifts were not necessary, although a registry for those wanting to offer a present was set up through David Jones.
Kynaston celebrated her “bachelorette” party about a month ago at Mimi’s in Coogee while Sandilands opted not to have a “bucks” do.
With family in town for the wedding, they are understood to have hosted a get-together at their Sydney home on Thursday afternoon.
Sandilands will be back on air on Monday with a honeymoon planned in the south of France for three weeks in the mid-year radio ratings break in June and July.
