Former Studio 10 presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley wants more inclusive discussions surrounding sexual violence against women.

The veteran TV presenter told Confidential that men as a whole were not the problem and that the recent string of parliamentary sex scandals was the result of a few bad apples.

“... Most (men) are actually fantastic,” Kennerley, 67, said.

“They want to help, they see the reasoning. There is only a small percentage of people who clearly have issues in their life.

“I think all the marches have been fabulous. I’d like to see one that has as many men marching for the same reason because it’s not a female problem it is a social problem.”

It comes after other prominent figures, including another former Studio 10 star, Ita Buttrose, also weighed in on the problem in Canberra.

“I think every woman in Australia should support the call (for better safety) and make sure our voice is heard,” Buttrose said.

Last month, thousands of women around the nation gathered in major cities to protest sexual violence against women in events known as the March 4 Justice.

The protests stemmed from what many perceived to be a lack of response from the government after former Liberal staffer, Brittany Higgins, claimed she was raped by a male colleague at Parliament House in 2019.

There was also outrage over a 1988 rape allegation against former Attorney-General of Australia, Christian Porter, which he has strenuously denied.
