KATHERINE Langford’s meteoric rise to fame is continuing to propel her towards superstardom.
This month the Australian actor is on the covers of US Marie Claire and Elle Australia. Both magazines highlight the best of the world’s new talent.
The 22-year-old Perth-born actor features on one of five covers for Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces issues alongside fellow performers Yara Shahidi, Sophie Turner, Issa Rae and Riley Keough.
Now based in the US, Langford — who has starred in coming-of-age drama Love, Simon and controversial teen TV series 13 Reasons Why — has been making waves in Hollywood, with her performances attracting the attention of fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.
But she told The Daily Telegraph she never set out to make grand statements with her work.
“I didn’t pick Love, Simon or 13 Reasons Why with any social agenda in mind (but) it is wonderful to see how these have both resonated,” she said in Sydney last month. “It is crazy to see how much it has impacted people.”
Langford said she was still filming the first season of 13 Reasons Why when she got the Love, Simon script: “For me, when I read this, what resonated most was the joy.”
