Kate Ritchie hopes to find the time to get back on the small screen for 2019

Along with her radio and writing career, Kate Ritchie is also an ambassador for Australian underwear brand, Jockey, and she admits stripping down for a photo shoot isn’t as easy as it looks. The star of the screen and radio waves speaks to Confidential ahead of Monday’s launch of a new Jockey range for women.

Kate Ritchie feels empowered after sexy photo shoot

Kate Ritchie would prefer her daughter be doctor, rather than a soap star.

Speaking about whether her little girl Mae, 4, would follow in her acting footsteps, the former Summer Bay stalwart said: “If I knew that she would have the same wonderful experience that I had growing up on set, then of course I would encourage her … but not every job is the lovely, warm, secure cocoon that is Home And Away.

“I’m encouraging her to be a paediatrician before an actor — she could do medicine,” she laughed.

But the 40-year-old Nova radio host said she’s desperate to get back in front of the camera herself.

“I really have my heart set on 2019 being the year that people see me back on their TV screens. I’ve never denied that,” she said.

“I miss it terribly but my life is so full from the number one national drive show and writing books and my ambassador roles, along with a family, so my schedule is very full.”

Even though Jockey’s new range is super comfortable, Ritchie admits it wasn’t easy stripping down for the photo shoot.

“I’m doing my best acting work yet in front of the camera, and it also proves that confidence is a mind game and on that day I’m a confident Kate Ritchie,” she said.

“I’m certainly out of my comfort zone, despite being in the most comfortable underwear there is on the market, it is still me standing in front of a group of people having my photograph taken.”

Jockey’s She’s Got The Power range hits stores on Monday.
