Kate Langbroek has reportedly turned down an offer to join Dave Hughes on Sydney breakfast radio.

Kate Langbroek reportedly turned down an offer to join her former co-host Dave Hughes on breakfast radio in Sydney.

Hughes is reportedly moving to Sydney, where he will broadcast a new breakfast radio show and an insider told Confidential that Langbroek signed to ARN after declining an offer to return to the HIT Network.

“She was asked to do a breakfast radio show with Hughesy but declined,” the source said.

“She didn’t want to live in Sydney and wanted a fresh start.”

It will mark the first time ever that the radio duo, who worked together for nearly 20 years, will appear on different networks.

Confidential has contacted The HIT Network for comment.

Langbroek was announced as a new co-host of KIIS FM’s 3PM Pick Up, nearly one year after she quit her 2DayFM show with Hughes.

The radio host is set to return to Australia next year after two years in Italy, and will replace AFL WAG Bec Judd while broadcasting from Melbourne.

“I can’t wait to join the 3PM Pickup, I’ve missed eavesdropping on conversations I can actually understand and hanging out with like-minded friends, so naturally I am beyond excited to team up with those two Aperol Spritzes, Monty and Yumi, for some afternoon fun and funniness,” said Langbroek.

“Which reminds me, I promise I won’t be one of those infuriating people who returns from a stint abroad with an accent and entirely new vocabulary. See you in 2021! Grazie. And ciao!”

This will mark a return to the Australian Radio Network for Kate, where she previously hosted KIIS FM’s Drive Show with Dave Hughes from 2015 to 2017.

ARN’s Chief Content Officer Duncan Campbell said, “I am excited to welcome Kate back to the network. She is a seasoned broadcaster and will bring a new perspective to the show off the back of her time in Italy. Kate has a way of connecting with listeners that sets her apart and we are looking forward to hearing the chemistry and dynamic between Kate, Monty and Yumi come to life on air.”

Meanwhile Judd confirmed her departure from media, including her presenting role at Channel 9 in a statement to Confidential.

“Over the course of this year we have all had time to reflect and re-evaluate what is important to us. As a family we have re-prioritized our lives for next year,” Judd said.

“Our twins have one final year before they head off to school and I have decided to step away from my role on 3PM Pickup to focus on our family while our children are still young. This was not an easy decision but one made many months ago between lockdowns and coincides with my husband stepping away from radio commitments next year too. I have been extremely fortunate to work with the ladies on the 3PM Pickup over the last 4 years. We have had heaps of fun and a lot of laughs together and I look forward to staying involved with the show in the future.

“In regards to my TV role, earlier this year due to COVID travel restrictions, filming on Postcards unfortunately had to stop. I have loved my 12 years at Nine and look forward to what the future holds with the company.”

In a statement, a Channel 9 spokesman said, “COVID-19 restrictions has meant that we have been unable to film new episodes of Postcards. Rebecca is great talent and we would welcome the chance to work with her again should the right opportunity arise.”

ARN’s Campbell said, “Bec Judd has been a fantastic contributor to 3PM Pick Up. The engaging conversation, real life anecdotes and fun that she brought to the show will be missed, but we wish her well on her next endeavours.”

The 3PM Pick Up returns to air on January 27th on the KIIS Network, hosted by Monty Dimond, Yumi Stynes and Langbroek.
