Karl Stefanovic and Cass Thorburn divide assets, finalising their split

Karl Stefanovic and Cassandra Thorburn have finalised their bitter divorce — two-and-a-half-years after their acrimonious 2016 split, with the former Channel 9 Today host giving up a significant asset.

Karl Stefanovic and Cassandra Thorburn have finalised their bitter divorce — two-and-a-half-years after their acrimonious 2016 split.

After 21 years of marriage, the warring couple are now both free to move on — although for Thorburn that’s likely to mean another change of address this year.

The former couple’s most significant asset is a $8 million waterfront Cremorne home Stefanovic, the highest paid man on Australian television, bought with his $3-million-a-year Nine pay-cheque just months before leaving Thorburn.

Stefanovic never moved into the trophy home.

Following extensive renovations Thorburn took up residence with the couple’s three children in mid-2017 after she first had to pack up and sell the family home in Lindfield. It sold for $3.8 million.

His new relationship with shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough in the early months of 2017 saw relations between Stefanovic and Thorburn further deteriorate against a backdrop of paparazzi tip-offs and media leak allegations.

Along with the house, the couple’s prized assets include three parcels of shares in luxury Bali bar and resort Mrs Sippys, acquired in late 2015.

It’s unclear if his Holden Commodore GTS is among the assets.

It is unclear if the TV host’s treasured chartreuse Holden HSV-500 — not seen since Stefanovic upgraded to a $200,000 Mercedes-Benz coupe in 2018 — might also be among the marital spoils.

In early 2017, sources close to Nine’s then undisputed star said he was prepared to hand over $6 million worth of property acknowledging Thorburn had given up her journalism career to raise the couple’s children.

Sources say that in the end however, the now remarried Stefanovic decided to fight for a larger slice of the estate while his ex-wife returned to work, most recently on Ten’s Dancing With The Stars.
