WHEN you run a multimillion-dollar fashion empire, maternity leave is not an option.
Just four months after giving birth to her first child, Luna Gypsy Jones, kaftan queen Camilla Franks is back at work.
“To begin with I’ll be working three days a week,” Franks told Vogue Australia in their May issue.
“These times are too precious and I don’t want to miss a moment. I’m fortunate I can take Luna into the office with me where I have an endless supply of willing babysitters.”
And despite having a newborn, Franks and her partner JP Jones, both avid travellers, don’t plan on slowing down when it comes to jetting around the globe for inspiration.
“We will never stop travelling, it’s the cornerstone of our prints and collection each season. “Our next trip is around this big beautiful backyard of ours for a month with both JP and Luna, and there is no strategy to keep our trips close to home,” she said. “Both JP and I travelled around as young ones and I believe this shaped our spirit.
“Luna’s middle name is Gypsy; we won’t be hanging up her explorer boots before she has
even begun.”
The 41-year-old hippie-at-heart said she has taken to motherhood easily.
“There’s a saying that when a child is born, the mother is also born, and I love being reborn into this new role,” she said.
“Nothing can fully prepare you for this experience. The hopes and dreams when you discover you’re pregnant, the challenges of pregnancy, the long rollercoaster of labour and the fear of the unknown are simply washed away when your precious little baby is placed in your arms.”
“As a woman it brings such a sense of fulfilment, a completion, and as someone who’s spent
her whole life creating, Luna is my greatest creation of all.”
