A sultry mugshot of an Australian man wanted by police has gone viral, sparking hilarious commentary from Australian women over his ‘sexy’ mugshot.
A police public appeal to find Jess Mabilia, 28, wanted on a warrant for contravening court orders, has been shared and commented on thousands of times since Victoria Police posted it last week — and the thirst is intense.
Despite the serious nature of the Facebook post, within minutes Mabilia’s sultry photo and resemblance to actor Robert Pattinson and John Mayer sent it into overdrive.
“Are you trying to lock him up or hook him up,” wrote one commenter.
“Charged with breaking and entering the hearts of single mother’s on Facebook,” another wrote.
“I thought it was a Twilight poster,” wrote another.
“He’s probably just busy signing contracts with Vogue magazine and is on his way right now and be in season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’ as Simon Hastings half brother.”
“Is he on tinder or grindr? Asking for a friend.”
The zingers have gone international (huge chunks of the threads are simply commenting on the comments) with women across the ditch in New Zealand offering to harbour the fugitive.
A spokesperson for Victoria Police said the warrant on Mr Mabilia is still outstanding.
“This comment section needs a drinks break all the single mothers are heller thirsty,” wrote one of the male commenters.
Asked how the police deal with posts when they take on a life of their own, the spokesperson said social media comments were monitored to ensure they met Facebook community standards.
“Victoria Police have had great success in using social media, this has not only been shown by the increase in Twitter followers and Facebook Friends, but also in the depth of conversations we are now having with members of the community who may not have had the opportunity to communicate with police in this way before.”
The reaction to Mabilia follows that of Jeremy Meeks’, dubbed the hot con, who sent women frothing globally after US police posted his wanted shot.
The response landed him in prison but also scored him a modelling contract.
Mabilia is approximately 185cm tall with a medium build, blue eyes and dark hair.
He is known to frequent the Mornington Peninsula, Frankston, Bass Coast and Geelong areas.
