THERE’S no trust issues for singing duo Jess and Matt.
The X Factor favourites Jess Dunbar and Matt Price are back with a new look and new sound inspired by the early days of their relationship. Their new single Bones is a track they co-wrote with hitmakers DNA, Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci.
“We don’t even have passwords on our phones, how’s that for trust?” explained Jess of the follow-up to their last single, Nothing Matters.
“Bones is a song about trust. We have a lot of friends that had very untrustworthy relationships and one of the lyrics is ‘here’s my phone and I will unlock it for you’. It is like, you can have my phone, do whatever you want, you can trust me.”
Matt added: “It is about the time we came together, looking back at a new relationship. During our time on the show we sang a lot of sad songs so it was nice to write a happy song.”
Bones is a catchy synthesised pop track with an electronic base that will no doubt be picked up by commercial radio.
DNA recently worked with Delta Goodrem and The Veronicas on their respective chart toppers — Wings and In My Blood.
“Obviously the halo from The X Factor was amazing and we rode that for a while but definitely writing new music has been great,” explained Jess.
Speaking on the Confidential on Nova radio show last night, Matt reflected on his time on The X Factor.
“That was a really good chapter of our music career so far and now it is on to the next one and we are doing things a little differently this time, it feels fresh and new.”
While competing on the show, there was a lot of discussion over whether Matt would propose to his partner of six years on live television.
A year on, they’re still not engaged although he said “the pressure never fades” and added that he will propose “when the time is right and you play your cards right”.
