It’s a crimson tide down the aisle as brides opt for colourful frocks
It might be a red flag to traditionalists, but the crimson wedding gown is set to make classic white dresses pale in comparison. And international designer Vera Wang is leading the charge.
It might be a red flag to traditionalists, but the crimson wedding gown is set to make classic white dresses pale in comparison.
And international designer Vera Wang is leading the charge as more Aussies look to experiment with their wedding frocks.
“People are not scared to buck tradition like they may have been in the past,” managing director of Australian Bridal Service Glenn Findlay, told The Daily Telegraph.
“Colour can be a very independent, individual statement of who a person is.
“It doesn’t have to be the white dress, which used to be the symbol of virginity.
“It is a real push forward in weddings becoming individual and not just working within constraints of previous traditions.”
Wang’s gowns will feature at the Ultimate Bridal Event at the International Convention Centre Sydney this weekend.
Wang’s new collection features gowns in red, yellow and purple, and start at $6000.
“A wedding gown is about self-expression and the bride should choose a dress that reflects who she is above all else,” Wang said.
“It is not just another dress. It’s the dress that you’ll remember forever.”
