Samantha Armytage has confessed to putting on weight during coronavirus.
The Sunrise presenter took to Instagram to “confess something” to her 230,000 followers, calling out her WW (Weight Watchers) community for their support.
“I have put on a few kilos in this lockdown and in recent months and I am not proud of that,” she said.
“I know we are all spending lots of time stuck indoors and lots of time staring into the fridge. It is not an easy time but don’t beat yourself up too much if you too, like me, have eaten a little bit too much cheese lately or whatever your vice is.”
The WW ambassador said she shared her story in the hope that it would help other women, and men, going through the same struggles at this time.
Armytage, 43, lost 10kg in four months on the program last year.
“I rang the girls in the WW office the other day and told them and they said, ‘Sam, please share that with everybody because it is happening to the best of us’,” she said, encouraging her followers to look after their mental wellbeing.
“Just hang in there, I am not going to torture myself with this. I am just going to wrangle it back and get back on track. I just wanted to let you all know that it is okay, keep going.”
Today, she said meditation has helped her through difficult times, using the Headspace app.
“I do a little meditation from the app every night before I go to sleep,” she said.
“It is really good at times like this if you are feeling a bit stressed and a bit housebound, cabin fever.”
Armytage’s followers rushed to thank her for her candid post, including fellow Channel 7 presenter Sally Obermeder.
One follower said they had “slipped off the wagon too”, while another said “we are all human”.
“Don’t feel guilty,” one wrote in a message Armytage reposted. “None of us can stop eating right now. Tomorrow is another day. Hang in there.”
