Ian Thorpe ‘weds’ Lee Lin Chin in reality TV show at Tamarama

ROBBED of her Gold Logie earlier this year, SBS news icon Lee Lin Chin was showing why she shouldn’t be written off as a nominee in 2017 as she joined Ian Thorpe on the set of a video shoot in Sydney’s east yesterday.

ROBBED of her Gold Logie earlier this year, SBS news icon Lee Lin Chin was showing why she shouldn’t be written off as a nominee in 2017 as she joined Ian Thorpe on the set of a video shoot in Sydney’s east yesterday.

The hilarious scene appeared to show Thorpe as groom and Chin as his dream girl bride in a layered, ruffled, deconstructed ensemble paired with red patent punk-styled boots, true to Chin’s wacky off-centre fashionista formula.

Thorpe, in a tidy Armani suit, towered over his 62-year-old “bride”, who may have mistaken a can of green spray paint for hairspray in her haste to take gay icon Thorpie as her life partner.

Sources on set said the scene, managed by a crew of a dozen production hands plus extras, were filming a reality TV series for ABC-TV.

Thorpe is working on a new series about bullying for ABC-TV called The Bully Project.

Shot in a documentary style, the series is expected to show teens being secretly bullied which is then sent to their parents, teachers and other students to show the impact.

There was little bullying on show yesterday at Tamarama, only mutual adoration from the pair.

Thorpe flashed a pair of Olympic-sponsor Optus socks at one point — a subtle plug for his other sponsor.

Chin went from the Tamarama set to the SBS studio and last night presented a recorded interview with Bill Shorten for The Feed program dubbed the Lee Lin Chinquisition in which she offered her vote in exchange for a place in his cabinet as the “minister for good times.”
