RITA Ora has explained her bizarre wardrobe choice of a bathrobe and stilettos at last week’s MTV EMA Awards.
Arriving in Australia for a whirlwind promo tour, the British chart-topper told Confidential she decided on the get-up because “nobody has done it”.
“I just wanted to show people you could be yourself, and I guess a robe and a towel on my head is me being myself. There was a subconscious message, which was I can take the piss out of a red carpet and it is not that serious,” Ora said.
Ora, who is promoting her new single Anywhere, also laughed off her prank on Germany’s The Voice.
Like the contestants, Ora performed to the judges who had their backs turned. Thankfully, they all turned round, although some didn’t recognise her.
“I just thought it would be fun to do it. My single was top of the charts for a few weeks in Germany so it was the perfect thing to go there and show some support and love.
“They were a bit confused. It was fun. It was wicked.”

The 26-year-old’s second album, five years in the making, is slated for release next year.
“I really wanted to get to the bottom of what people wanted to know, everything with my personal life. It all boiled up from the frustration of not being able to put music out for a few years,” said Ora, who in the past has dated Calvin Harris and Drake.
“It was anger into desperation into sadness and so it has a lot of emotion in there. The good news is I have one really powerful song for all my ladies and it is called Girls.”
She added: “You’ve just got to go with the flow. If people like it, they like it.”
