FORMER The Bachelorette contestant Cam Cranley has weighed in on rumours that he’s signed on to become the next Bachelor.
The 28-year-old firefighter from Perth, who appeared on Georgia Love’s season, told Confidential he had “heard the rumours” but at this stage was “not contracted”.
“There were talks early on and whispers here and there. But no real comment on it — I mean, it’s really flattering that people think it’s going to be me.”
Cranley, who is single after a recent breakup, added that he wouldn’t automatically say yes if he was asked.
“I don’t know if I’d do it,” he said. “Maybe. But it would depend on a lot of things. I’m really close with my family so I would have sit down and talk to them. Because I’d had a great run on the show a year ago. I was really lucky to be edited well and the entire thing was a really positive experience for me.
“But there is no guarantee if you go back into that world that you will come out the same.”
Cranley said he was asked to appear in Channel 10s upcoming Bachelor spin-off Bachelor in Paradise but turned it down because “I didn’t think I was going to find someone”.
“It’s everyone on an island getting drunk and hooking up, but for me, I didn’t want to take the piss,” he said.
However this week he was honoured with another Bachelor title — coming third in Cosmopolitan + Tinder’s Bachelor of the Year competition.
He said despite the honour, he was looking forward to getting rid of the Bachelor tag: “It would be great to get a girlfriend and settle down, but it’s been two years now and I’m still at square one.”
