CARRIE Bickmore has vowed to let her hair down at this year’s Logie Awards, doubting her chances of picking up the much coveted Gold statuette for a second year running.
“I don’t think someone has won a back to back (Gold Logie) in about 10 years, which is an incredibly relieving feeling because that means I can party my arse off this year,” Bickmore told The Daily Telegraph.
The Channel Ten presenter is one of several TV stars vying for the Gold Logie at this year’s awards that will be held in Melbourne on May 8.
Also up for Gold is Bickmore’s The Project co-host Waleed Ally, actor Essie Davis, Family Feud game show host Grant Denyer, veteran SBS news anchor Lee Lin Chin and The Block’s Scott Cam.
Bickmore, 35, is also up for Most Popular Presenter, an award she won last year as well as Gold.
Her tear jerking emotional speech after winning Gold at last year’s event was one of the most memorable moments in the award ceremonies history.
In her speech, Bickmore donned a blue beenie to raise awareness of her late husband’s battle with brain cancer that started the Beanies for Brain Cancer movement for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
“It was such a nerve-racking thing to do but it feels like it was just yesterday,” said Bickmore. “I still don’t think I’ve had a chance to reflect on the fact it happened so for it to roll around again, I’m not ready to hand over the baton yet.”
As for whether or not the beanie will get another run up the red carpet, she said: “I think the beanie had its night. It can drop off now. It is not Logies night material and it is looking a bit ragged.”
