Cassie Sainsbury has told of struggling to land a job despite applying for hundreds of positions after he stint in a Colombian prison. Sainsbury spoke to Confidential after exiting reality show, SAS Australia.

Cassie Sainsbury says she can't get a job

Cassie Sainsbury just wants a job, pretty much any job.

The 28-year-old says she has applied for hundreds of positions but can’t score an interview after serving three years in a brutal Colombian prison for being caught with a suitcase containing 5.8kg of cocaine.

“I just want to be a normal person again,” Sainsbury told The Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve applied for anything and everything – gym work, admin, hospitality and cleaning. It always comes up with, not likely to proceed. I don’t want special treatment, I don’t want to be in the spotlight, I just want a normal life – a nine to five job, an eight to six job, just an everyday job but I keep getting rejected.”

She added: “It is just another stepping stone, something I have to overcome. I won’t give up, that’s for sure.”

Adelaide-based Sainsbury has been in Sydney this week after being ousted from Seven reality show, SAS Australia, where contestants undertake a rigorous special forces style selection course.

She left the show in the same episode as footballer Boyd Cordner and fashionista Lindy Klim.

The show, she explained, has been an opportunity to shed the ‘cocaine Cassie’ nickname, and reputation that came with her lengthy stint in jail.

“It is hard to find the words to describe the experience,” she said.

“It has been life changing. It has given me the ability to find myself again, which is more than I could have asked for.”

Sainsbury worked as a recruitment consultant before her arrest in 2017, and is now a qualified personal trainer.

She returned to Australia last year with IT technician wife, Tatiana, and has struggled to gain employment.

She recently started online training program, Cassie Leigh Fitness.

“I think I would have applied for 200 to 300 jobs and no interviews,” she said.

“Having that stability is so essential in picking up my life and moving forward.”
