What looked like might have been a disastrous unfolding for the legacy of country legend Slim Dusty has turned out to be a reorganising of the music star’s empire.

And it turns out, there’s still quite a bit of cash in the bank some 21 years after the death of the A Pub With No Beer singer at 76 in 2003.

Documents obtained by Confidential show the Slim Dusty Group company was put into voluntary liquidation as of July 1.

Calls from Sydney Confidential uncovered in the words of The Naked Gun’s Leslie Nielsen, ‘nothing to see here’.

The Slim Dusty Group was established in 1973 and operations will still continue but under the new name of Slim Dusty Enterprises, which has $5 million in cash and assets on its books.

That company was set up on May 2 this year, overseeing management of everything from songwriting residuals to the Slim Dusty Centre in Kempsey.

Directors of the company are Dusty’s children, Anne Arneman and David Kirkpatrick.

“It’s just a reorganising of all the business interests doesn’t affect the overall operation which is continuing,” she said.

Their mum, Joy McKean, was also an icon of the Australian country music industry and died last year at the age of 93.
