THE world’s biggest internet celebrity has flaunted a cigarette propped between her fingers in a nude post to social media.
Kendall Jenner’s sultry pose flies in the face of national advertising standards that ban smoking images and comes days after the Australian government pledged to investigate local “insta smoke shots”.
Jenner, 21, captioned the Instagram image “I don’t smoke”, but was quickly accused by critics of being a “bad influence” for “glamorising” the habit.
Other celebrities, including Rita Ora, Bella Hadid, Dakota Johnson and Frances Bean Cobain, have all been caught posting similar shots.
The Saturday Telegraph revealed Australian modelling agencies were also posting social media images of women smoking, prompting the Cancer Council to call for advertising standards to be updated for the 21st century.
Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt said of online smoking images: “The dangers of smoking are significant and glamorising it in any manner will not be tolerated”. Jenner’s post had last night received close to three million likes.
