The former Home and Away star last month revealed he had a “huge battle” ahead of him after announcing his brain cancer had returned.

“Thank you so much for all the support,” Ruffo wrote on Instagram, sharing a number of images receiving chemotherapy treatment.

“You guys have helped keep my spirits high and you keep me fighting. Let’s smash this chemo.”

Ruffo, 32, first fought brain cancer in 2017.

Ruffo has been swamped with well wishes since the revelation. Among those to show support on his latest post were Sally Obermeder, Kylie Gillies and Lincoln Lewis.

“You got this bro, everyone’s behind ya cheering you on!” Lewis wrote.

Ruffo’s former Home and Away castmates have also rallied behind him.

“Sending so much love to you my darling friend. Let’s catch up again soon,” Lynne McGranger wrote.

Emily Symons, who plays Marilyn on the show, said: “Thinking of you darling, sending all our love and strength.”

It has been three years since Ruffo first revealed he underwent surgery to remove a seven centimetre brain tumour in the right frontal lobe of his brain that he discovered when seeking medical help for a migraine. He also underwent radiation and chemotherapy and later said he would have died had it not been for the quick response of medical professionals.

“Without the operation, there was a 100 per cent certainty I would have died because of the pressure on my brain,” he said at the time. “There was a lot of medical jargon, but by all accounts this responds well to radiotherapy and chemo so they are pretty confident they can beat it, which is good news.”

Ruffo starred as Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.

He first rose to fame as a contestant on The X Factor in 2011, placing third and signing a recording deal with Sony Music. A year later he won the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars Australia.
