Hollywood actor Rebel Wilson has arrived late to the red carpet for the 2021 AACTA Awards in Sydney, dressed in low-key black with her blonde hair down.

Appearing slightly flustered, she refused to speak to media other than the host broadcaster, Channel 10, and was quickly rushed into the auditorium for the awards.

New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi also rocked up solo in a black suit and would not talk to media.

The entry comes after news Hollywood actor Rebel Wilson was granted a quarantine exemption after jetting into Sydney from Los Angeles on Monday.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard allegedly authorised Wilson and her entourage to skip the NSW government’s mandatory 72-hour self-isolation requirement ahead of her appearance at Wednesday night’s AACTA awards ceremony.

NSW Health quarantine guidelines state that all international arrivals must self-isolate for a minimum of three days.

“To keep communities safe, international passengers need to self-isolate for at least 72 hours and get a COVID-19 test. Those from southern Africa will need to enter hotel quarantine for 14 days,” the website states.

It comes amid a growing cluster of Covid-19 cases in NSW that have been linked to the Omicron variant.

A spokeswoman for NSW Health said exemptions may be granted under strict Covid guidelines.

“NSW Health does not comment on individual cases. However, when exemption requests are reviewed and granted by NSW Health or the NSW Health Minister, strict conditions such as testing and vaccination requirements are imposed to ensure any risk to public health is minimised,” she said.

Confidential has also contacted Mr Hazzard and Wilson for comment.

Wilson is part of a star-studded line-up of presenters including Succession star Sarah Snook and Hollywood actor Russell Crowe, who was pictured arriving in Sydney on Wednesday on a private jet and understood to be travelling from his northern NSW home.

This year’s AACTA Awards ceremony is presented by Foxtel Group.
