While the Nine Network is trying to put the damaging incident in the past, those directly involved in the scandal are having trouble forgiving and forgetting.
Confidential’s inside sources at Nine have revealed 60 Minutes boss Kirsty Thomson is one of those most angered by the ugly chat between Karl and brother Peter Stefanovic.
Thomson has reportedly shelved a number of Karl’s interviews produced for the current affairs program.
Confidential’s insider said Thomson would like to dump him from her show but his contract stipulates he must dedicate a number of hours to 60 Minutes.
“Kristy is not happy. She really feels thrown under the bus by Karl,” the insider said. “She doesn’t want him to be part of her show.”
Details of Karl and Peter’s conversation, in which they slammed 60 Minutes, emerged last week.
“60 Minutes is not what it was a couple of years ago — it has lost relevance and lost viewers. It’s often on at 8.45pm — you draw your own conclusion on how it is going. The people upstairs don’t know anything and are out of touch with what’s going on,” Karl told his brother Peter, according to an Uber driver.
Thomson is not a big fan of Peter Stefanovic either. She has reportedly knocked back more than half a dozen of his story ideas for 60 minutes this year. Neither Karl nor Peter featured on last night’s episode of 60 Minutes.
Bosses at Nine were reportedly unimpressed by the reaction to Karl’s interview with pop star Kylie Minogue last week, which was panned by fans of the show.
Tensions are also said to be high on the Today set.
