Guys, dolls and Alan Jones in London’s West End

Embattled former radio host Alan Jones has been spotted enjoying a spot of entertainment in London. Here is the latest.

Alan Jones denies multiple indecent assault allegations

If you thought embattled former radio host Alan Jones was spending his time in London feeling sorry for himself, as he deals with serious allegations of sexual harassment and indecent assault – think again.

Confidential Unleashed has spotted the pink sweater-clad ex-2GB breakfast star enjoying a West End show, and lapping up a production of Guys and Dolls at London’s Bridge Theatre earlier this month.

The former Wallabies and Balmain Tigers coach was seen watching the production in a packed theatre, alongside a male companion, who was heard to have an “English” accent.

Jones left Sydney for London just before Christmas, amid several media reports alleging Jones indecently assaulted and harassed male staff members.

Mr Jones categorically denies the allegations against him and is threatening legal action against The Sydney Morning Herald.

However there is no word on when he may return from the UK to face the music.

In the meantime – he’s more than happy to face the musicals in London.

I’M NOT MAINSTREAM: MONTAIGNE

“Indie” used to mean an artist was independent of a record label, but these days it’s more a genre that encompasses anything beyond the Top 40.

Sydney artist Montaigne (Jessica Cero), ditched their record label and management in April 2023. “It suits me well because I’m the kind of person who believes grassroots is where all the power is,” the singer said.

“I think our generation has come to realise this is how we have to do things to create anything that lasts, because corporations fumble this shit all the time.”

Since being named Triple J’s Unearthed Artist in 2012, while in Year 11, Montaigne has released three studio albums with Wonderlick Entertainment and Sony and represented Australia at the 2021 Eurovision song contest.

Montaigne told Confidential about going all in on indie while at the Vanguard in Newtown, where they will perform as part of the Great Southern Nights all-Aussie live music series.

“I had creative freedom ... but I didn’t necessarily feel that they understood what I was doing,” the 28-year-old said. “They let me do what I was doing but ... Sony knows how to do commercial pop music. I was producing and making music that didn’t sound like that ...

“I’m proud of our work together, but in this next phase of my career, I don’t want to fit the mainstream mould.”

For Great Southern Nights, more than 300 live music gigs will be held in NSW from March 8 to March 24.

INFLUENCER RUNS OUT OF LUCK AT CASINO

Infamous bodybuilding influencer Hossein “Yakiboy” Balapour has been charged by police after an alleged illegal visit to Star Casino.

Balapour, 34, has more than 360,000 followers on Instagram, who love his unique posts that show off his incredibly ripped physique and head-to-toe tattoos.

But it seems the bodybuilder is not as loved at casinos, and was last weekend kicked out of Star Casino in Darling Harbour.

His removal from the gaming and entertainment complex came because he is subject to a casino exclusion order, which can be issued by NSW Police or NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC).

Balapour was charged by NSW Police for allegedly entering casino premises and granted bail, ahead of an appearance at Sutherland Local Court on January 30.

As part of his bail conditions he is unable to go within 1km of Star Casino or Crown Casino in Barangaroo. On top of the alleged casino breach, Balapour remains before the courts on several other matters — including over a wild brawl on a Sydney street last January.

Balapour unleashed a violent attack on personal trainer Marven Yaccoub that led to him being charged with affray and using an offensive weapon.

The incident was captured on video and showed him chasing the other man across the road.

Balapour pleaded guilty to affray and was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order, with the other charges withdrawn.
