Holey Moley! Channel 7 has scored what it hopes is a hole in one by announcing Aussie great Greg Norman as the new host of its golfing show Holey Moley.

Norman replaces Sonia Kruger who was last year named as host after defecting from rival Nine. Kruger will concentrate on hosting comeback show Big Brother.

Norman – nicknamed The Shark – will appear in every episode of the golf-themed reality show, which flies contestants to America to compete on a giant minigolf course, similar to shows such as Wipeout and The Wall.

“Holey Moley is minigolf like you’ve never seen before and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this fresh, fun, new TV series,” Norman told The Sunday Telegraph.

“I look forward to joining the other incredible talent on the Holey Moley team and seeing all of the competitors in the Thunderdome of minigolf.

Also joining Norman are American comedian and actor Rob Riggle — perhaps best known here for his roles in Step Brothers and The Hangover — popular Aussie commentator Brian “BT” Taylor and actress Olympia Valance, who will be the sideline reporter.

The program, which was an unlikely ratings hit in America, sees minigolf lovers from around the country compete on a larger-than-life obstacle golf course in California.

“Holey Moley promises to be fun, unpredictable, family entertainment on a scale unlike anything Australia has seen before,” said Angus Ross, Seven’s Director of Network Programming.

“Greg Norman transcends the game of golf and we’re beyond excited to have him tee off with us.”
