GQ Red carpet questions. How awkward did it get?

It’s GQ’s birthday — but the star-studded and the famous don’t need an excuse to get spruced up for the magazine’s night of nights.

The awards ceremony recognises men who shape Australia’s cultural landscape and celebrates intelligent, inspirational and talented men, who have gone above and beyond.

The event brings together over 300 VIPs for a night where film meets sports, music meets fashion and entrepreneurs run the show.

It’s the masthead’s 20th anniversary, and the celebs gave every indication they had turned up to party.

Pia Miller stole the show in a low-cut, white Toni Maticevski gown.

While Emily Ratajkowski was the A-list female guest, model-turned-actress Miller turned heads in a striking gown by the Australian designer at the awards at The Star.

Miller and her fiance, Tyson Mullane, who proposed to his wife-to-be a year ago, looked loved up as they stormed the black carpet.

When asked what it takes to be a Man of the Year, Miller said “integrity” and that her beau had it in spades.

“A man of the year to me is comfortable in his own skin,” she said.

“He has integrity, loves what he does and makes a difference.”

STAR ON THE RISE ‘FLATTERED’

DESPITE his global success on cult series Stranger Things, Dacre Montgomery has remained humble and down to earth.

The Perth born actor, who won the TV Actor of the Year award at the GQ event, showed no sign of his new-found fame getting to his head when speaking to Confidential.

When asked what it felt to be branded Australia’s star on the rise, the 23-year-old said, “It feels incredibly flattering but it also reminds me to remain grounded and remember just how long I was taking a stab at this industry before I was afforded the success that i have been lucky enough to have.”

“It’s all about keeping my head down and making smart decisions.”

Atlanta based Montgomery, who walked the black carpet alongside his girlfriend of one year, model Liv Pollock, said it was an honour to be invited to tonight’s 20th Anniversary GQ awards night.

“You have no idea how happy I am to be here tonight,” he said.

“It is such a huge honour.

“And it is so nice to be home. We have been away for eight months so it’s great to be home.”

When it comes to what’s next for the ‘one to watch,’ Montgomery said he is choosing his next gig carefully.

“There’s not a lot I can speak about at the moment,” he said.

“I am taking my time when figuring out what’s next... There are amazing opportunities but I want to make the right decisions and that doesn’t come by being hasty.”

“It comes with appreciating what I have st the moment and making smart decisions about what I am doing with my future,” he explained.
