WHILE all eyes were firmly on Carrie Bickmore and her reaction to Lisa Wilkinson’s addition to The Project, there was another star of the show whose nose was apparently out of joint by the appointment.
Part-time panellist Gorgi Coghlan, who has been at Channel 10 since 2010, was the go-to fill-in host for Bickmore for many years.
She replaced the well-liked host when she went on maternity leave in 2015.
Wilkinson now takes on a senior role at the program, and while Coghlan is still a part of the family, the former Today co-host is taking on a number of the big projects and is co-hosting the Friday show alongside Coghlan, who previously anchored the episode with Waleed Aly.
Insiders said that shortly after Wilkinson’s move to Ten, Coghlan’s contract was up at the network.

It is understood her management put calls out to explore other options for the presenter.
“Her manager reached out to a few people to put the feelers out to see if there were openings elsewhere,” the insider said.
“There wasn’t really anything for someone at Gorgi’s level that fit her lifestyle. She wanted an afternoon or night gig and she did not want to leave her hometown of Melbourne.”
With a lot of Channel 10’s programs now being filmed in Sydney, the options for Coghlan at the station in Victoria are limited.
It is understood that Coghlan has since signed a new contract with Ten.
Coghlan and Wilkinson have previously worked together at Channel 9.
