Get the celebrity look: Sexy Sydney model shares cheats for killer body

Charlie de Haas shares her health hacks for the ultimate celebrity-inspired look.

She’s got a body that could be envied by even the most A-list of celebrities, but Sydney-based fitness model turned health coach, Charlie de Haas, says it’s totally achievable to get her killer look without a diet of lettuce, and going overboard at the gym.

New Zealand born Charlie, 32, who also founded healthy food company, The Clean Treats Factory, has caught the attention of many fitness buffs on social media, with her brimming Instagram account of hot bikini-baring snaps.

Jealous much? You don’t have to be. The brunette beauty is adamant that those chasing the dream of a celebrity-inspired, toned figured, can get there with a simple shift in attitude.

“You won’t ever make changes unless you feel good and send healthy, happy signals to your billions of cells,” Charlie says, who encourages clients to say “I love you in the mirror and repeat it until you believe it”.

Charlie speaks from experience when it comes to undertaking a health overhaul. After years in the modelling industry, the yoga-junkie was plagued with body dysmorphia, and a vicious cycle of binge eating and over training.

”Looking back I can see I used fitness comps as a way to verify my self-worth,” she admits, adding that at the time she was also trapped in an abusive relationship which ultimately led to her hitting rock bottom.

“I was taken to hospital twice for suicide watch and couldn’t get through a day without popping Valium.”

But tragedy turned to triumph when Charlie made the decision to turn her life around and embark on her dream of helping herself and others lead a healthier life.

“I moved to Sydney from the Gold Coast and began working on myself. I started yoga, spent time healing, reading and doing work on myself,” she says, confessing that when she finally stopped dieting she actually lost weight – 10kgs in fact!

Now settled in Sydney with her business growing from success to success, Charlie has decided to share her top tips to help all those banging on about getting a banging body, to well, bang on with it.

Charlie de Haas’ top tips to rock a celebrity body

Self-love: Say ‘I love you’ in the mirror, and repeat until you believe it. When you love yourself you’ll want to care for yourself appropriately with the right food and exercise.

Morning movement: Studies show that fasted cardio burns three times more in the morning than any other time of the day. I choose to dedicate 30 to 60 minutes to exercise such as walking.

Yoga: It’s changed my life! Four times per week for ultimate toning.

Water: When you think you’ve drunk enough, drink some more.

Five healthy swaps for easy weight loss

Swap white toast for Protein Bread which only has around 2g of carbs per serve. Also it’s less inflammatory and high in protein.

Swap potato for sweet potato or pumpkin which has more nutritional value and is easier to burn off.

Swap breakfast cereal to oats or quinoa. Cereal is generally laden with sugar so it will give you a quick burst of energy followed by a steep crash. I would suggest buying whole oats and then dressing them to make your own muesli. Add in raw cashews and a sprinkle of vegan protein powder and berries for example.

Swap milk chocolate to dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has more antioxidants so it is the lesser of the two evils. It is also less sweet so there is less chance of you binging on it. Try and go for products with minimal ingredients.

Swap table salt to Himalayan sea salt. Bad salts will often leave you feeling dehydrated, bloated and craving more junk food. By swapping you’ll still get the minerals without the negative side affects.

A regular day on my plate

I start each day with a cup of warm lemon water.

Breakfast: Organic quinoa and buckwheat muesli with Slippery Elm, linseed and almond milk.

Mid-morning: A choc brownie protein bar, from the Clean Treats range which is fructose and nut free, with a licorice tea - I am beyond addicted!

A large salad with as much colour as possible is what you should be aiming for at lunch.

Lunch: I always aim for a large salad with as much colour as possible.

Afternoon: Banana and coffee as a pre workout snack or a blueberry and protein smoothie.

I also try to snack on blueberries throughout the day.

Dinner: Currently loving pumpkin soup with paleo bread and real butter.
