Georgia Love wants to see fresh contenders in The Bachelor and The Bachelorette

When it comes to casting The Bachelor and Bachelorette, Georgia Love thinks that Ten should be hunting down fresh contenders.

When it comes to casting The Bachelor and Bachelorette, Georgia Love thinks that Ten should be hunting down fresh contenders.

Speaking about the network and production company Warner Brothers’ decision to cast Matty Johnson in the leading role of this year’s ­Bachelor, Love said that she preferred a surprise.

“I’ve enjoyed all the earliest seasons when it’s been an unknown, because I enjoy that part of getting to know The Bachelor and The Bachelorettes themselves along the way,” she explained.

“I’m probably biased because I think they made a pretty good decision in me and I wasn’t ­already known!

“I can see why they’ve chosen him, but I would probably like to see a new Bachelorette again this year.”

While Love was cast without any prior appearances on the hit Ten franchise, inaugural Bachelorette Sam Frost, last year’s Bachelor Richie Strahan and now this year’s Bachelor Matty Johnson are all already known to audiences through their exploits on previous seasons.

Love, who famously rejected the 30-year-old marketer in favour of Lee Elliott last year, said Johnson would have to tread carefully.

“Matty is in this position where he was the one who was heartbroken and left going home alone, and there’s always a bit of a risk that he’ll do that to someone else,” she mused.

ON THE SHOW

Sam Frost became The Bachelorette after being a contestant in a previous series of The Bachelor.

While she remains firm in her choice of Elliott, Love said it was nonetheless strange seeing her ­former flame in the role of The ­Bachelor.

“I’ve known for a while, so I’ve had a bit of time to digest.”

“It’s quite weird for me, because it was not all that long ago that we were in Singapore and on that hotel roof and he was on the show with me.”

“Hopefully, he’ll understand where I’m coming from with that.”
