Former Rabbitohs prop George Burgess and his wife Joanna are in hotel quarantine after quietly jetting in from the UK.
The couple arrived in Sydney with their three children one week ago amid reports Burgess, 29, has signed a two-year contract with the St George Illawarra Dragons.
NRL WAG Joanna shared photos from her hotel balcony in the cbd on Instagram while witnessing lockdown protests and wrote, “The people want their freedom”.
She later added, “Just to clarify - I never stated I was for or against the protest held in Sydney today: It was just a little something different for my girls to watch from our hotel quarantine balcony: Day 6.”
The Burgess family moved to the UK in 2019 while Burgess was serving a nine-match ban with the Rabbitohs after being found guilty of eye-gouging
He signed a three-year deal with England’s Wigan Warriors and played eight times in the 2020 season before leaving the club due to a persistent hip injury.
The couple tied the knot five years ago in a lavish ceremony in Noosa.
They share two daughters and a son Boston, Bridie and Blainey.
