Model Gabriella Brooks has cemented herself as one of Sydney’s A-list celebrities. The in-demand model, who is also the girlfriend of Liam Hemsworth, made a rare public appearance at the launch of The Australian’s new glossy magazine Travel + Luxury on Wednesday night at Crown Sydney’s a’Mare.
The private star, who has modelled for Seafolly and Calvin Klein, was among a sea of guests to launch the new luxury travel and lifestyle destination.
Of the launch of the magazine, Editorial Director Kerrie McCallum said, “The travel industry has faced unprecedented challenges, hence Travel + Luxury is predicated on keeping your dreams alive. It’s time to reset.”
“Travel + Luxury brings those once-in-a-lifetime moments and inspiration to the discerning traveller, led by an unparalleled line-up of Australia's leading travel writers and luxury experts.”
ROMANCING WITH THE STARS
It’s a tale as old as reality television time. A celebrity falling in love with their partner on Dancing With The Stars. And it appears cupid might have her arrow aimed at the new cast of Channel 7’s DWTS, which is currently filming in Sydney.
Confidential sources have noted chemistry developing between television host Renee Bargh and her dance partner Jarryd Byrne. The two have posted a series of intimate snaps of themselves in rehearsal, and sources told Confidential they have brought that chemistry to the dance floor.
“The completion is so fiercely competitive this season with all the past celebrities returning, and having the ultimate chemistry both on and off the dance floor is a sure way to take out the mirror ball trophy,” they said.
They wouldn’t be the first to find love on the dance floor, with model Rachael Finch famously marrying dancer Michael Miziner after they were partnered together on the show. While returning All Stars Tom Williams and Luke Jacobz have also dated their dance partners in previous seasons.
The ballroom has also become quite the celebrity spotting opportunity with Delta Goodrem, Lleyton Hewitt and Example all spotted in the audience during filming.
HOPPO’S MURIEL’S WEDDING REVEAL
TV Lifeguard Bruce “Hoppo” Hopkins has revealed his versatility with The Bondi Rescue veteran confessing that he had a cameo appearance in iconic film Muriel’s Wedding.
On Thursday night’s episode of the Channel 10 show, Hoppo revealed he was an extra and a body double to Daniel Lapaine, who played Muriels’s swim star husband David Van Arkle. “I did a bit of doubling for the main actor, a bit of swimming in the pool. He was playing the part of an Olympic Swimmer so I was perfect.”
NO FAST-TRACKED JAB FOR SPRINTER
Sprint star Morgan Mitchell is firmly against the idea of athletes getting a priority COVID-19 vaccine, saying it’s important to put public health before their careers and the Olympics.
The rising star and F45 ambassador said public health should take precedence over athletes even if it means the cancellation of major sporting events.
“People are losing their lives … It’s greater than the athlete, it’s about keeping the country sage,” the 26-year-old star told Confidential.
“Everyone has their own opinion and you will upset people regardless. Vaccines would mean the world can go back but I can’t imagine giving vaccines to athletes over people who are sick. There are people in countries who can’t even afford the vaccine.’
Mitchell said if the Olympics are cancelled, she will opt for local records instead.
“We are hoping they go ahead so we are training as if they are going ahead. We just don’t know and it kind of sucks. I told my coach to train as if it’s happening and then if they get cancelled we wait for the first race to open up here or overseas,” she said.
“Let’s just go for the Australian record. When you put it into perspective people are losing their jobs, their lives and their families.”
