After having conquered Australian air waves consistently for the past few years, Dua Lipa has taken her throne as the true Queen of Pop blowing fans away with a dynamic performance in Sydney.
British pop singer Dua Lipa started with a bang on Tuesday night by performing her chart topping hits Physical (2020) and New Rules (2018) first up in her Future Nostalgia show, successfully making up for lost pandemic time with local fans who screamed along to every word of her most well known songs.
In a packed out Qudos Bank Arena, the star strutted down the stage charismatically in a striking lace blue jumpsuit to tell fans how excited she was to be back in the Emerald City.
“It’s real joy to be in Sydney. I’ve missed the energy,” she proclaimed.
Famous for her pristine vocals, the singer proved that she was – if not, close to – the definition of an all rounder with her polished but natural dance moves.
The singer of the four time platinum single Levitating (2020) at one point of the show literally levitated when her dancers carried her in front of a gigantic brightly coloured screen.
Tuesday evening’s sold out performance was the first of two shows in the city after overwhelming demand from Sydneysiders led organisers to prolong the Australian leg of her ‘Future Nostalgia’ Tour 2022.
The Grammy award-winning star is set to next hit up Melbourne, followed by Adelaide and then will wrap up in Perth in mid November.
QUEEN OF POP DUA LIPA STEPS OUT IN SYDNEY
The clifftop Crypto Castle was a scene fit for the touring Queen of Pop Dua Lipa when her local record label Warner Music hosted a private soiree to celebrate her considerable chart achievements.
Lipa and her crew spent Monday evening at the imposing concrete mansion in South Coogee, owned by Finder.com entrepreneur Fred Schebesta.
Warner boss Dan Rosen presented the Levitating superstar, who is currently thrilling tens of thousands of fans with her Future Nostalgia arena show, with a plaque acknowledging the millions of streams, downloads and physical sales of her singles and albums in Austraia.
Enjoying the view and champagne were KISS Night Show host Mitch Churi, Today’s entertainment reporter Brooke Boney, TikTok’s local director of music Ollie Wards and Nova’s Smallzy.
The statuesque singer hung out at the mansion, with her dad manager and pop star himself Dukagjin Lipa keeping an eye on proceedings.
Earlier on Monday, Lipa was getting her steps in at 5am on her day off in Sydney, soaking up the sunrise on the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk.
She shared a photo from the iconic Bondi Icebergs to her Instagram stories as well as one of a yellow cherry artwork that is part of Sculptures by the Sea, and further snaps as she watched the sun come up over the horizon with two friends.
“My favourite sunrise walk,” she captioned the photos.
By early afternoon, Lipa had rallied her Future Nostalgia tour crew for a workout at Barry’s Bootcamp on Elizabeth Street.
The gym franchise, started by LA-based celebrity trainer Barry Jay, has three Sydney outposts — in Surry Hills, Martin Place, and Kings Cross.
The immersive cardio and strength workout is popular with celebrities like Lipa, and also lists
David Beckham, Harry Styles, Mandy Moore, and Ellie Goulding among clients on its website.
Lipa looked every inch the off duty pop star stepping out of the gym in Sydney’s CBD.
The 27-year-old sported an oversized grey Supreme hoodie and black flared track pants and had a water bottle and phone in hand as she approached a waiting Mercedes.
She arrived in Sydney by private jet from Brisbane on Sunday afternoon, to continue the Down Under leg of her world tour.
