Earlier this year, Massoud was suspended from the Seven Network after he reportedly threatened to “slit” a 22-year-old colleague’s neck and “s*** down” it after the cadet breached an embargo on one of Massoud’s stories.

The story related to former NRL player Todd Carney’s plans to transfer back to a Sydney club to be closer to his ailing mother.

The young reporter, who it’s believed is an employee of Prime’s regional Queensland network, is understood to have spotted the story on an early Seven news rundown and unwittingly published it to his social media account ahead of the 6pm news bulletin, breaking the embargo.

Massoud is said to have reduced the man to tears and also abused a Sydney-based producer over the same incident.

Massoud has hired lawyer John Laxon who has previously represented 2GB, Channel 9 and Channel 10 employees.
