FORMER Neighbours star Melissa Bell has opened up about her heartbreak after revealing she held a 93-day bedside vigil for her late husband Gary Dickinson.
The 43-year-old said she was called into hospital after Dickinson, 57, suffered a major heart attack last month, which left him in a coma in hospital.
“He died in my arms, I was holding him. I said, ‘I’m with you, you’re not alone, I love you, I love you’ and then he took his last breath and his heart stopped and I put my hand on his heart,” Bell told Woman’s Day.
Dickinson died on February 13 despite making progress including sitting up in a wheelchair and interacting with his family.
Bell said Dickinson, whom she had been married for 15 years, was brought back to life last year.
“He actually died on November 12 and was brought back,,” she said in December.
“I spent 20 days holding his hand, telling him I love him.
Dickinson was deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes before suffering from pneumonia. He was left with severe brain damage.
“If he wakes up, he might not know who we are,” she said at the time.
