GUY Pearce and his girlfriend, Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten, have welcomed their first child into the world.
The former Neighbours star announced the news via Twitter yesterday, writing “A cute little package arrived and told us his name’s Monte Pearce. We think we’re gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie anyone?” to his 12,000 followers.
Monte was born last week in Amsterdam, where the couple were pictured attending birthing classes earlier this month.
Pearce started dating the Dutch actor last year after splitting with Kate Mestitz, his wife of 20 years.
Previously having stated his disinterest in children, Pearce’s relationship with the 39-year-old appears to have changed his mind.
“Nothing like the prospect of a shadowbaby to change your mind about becoming a Father !!” he wrote on Twitter to announce the news, a reference to van Houten’s Game of Thrones character.
Pearce and his former wife didn’t have children, with Pearce saying over the years that this was a conscious decision.
“We both know kids aren’t for us,” he told the media in 2012.
