Welcome to Hemmes Happy Hour!
Get in early enough to the historic first two sporting matches at the new $830 million Allianz Stadium and you’ll be able to drink up at 49 per cent off the usual prices.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal hospitality tycoon Justin Hemmes, whose Merivale group has the hospitality contract at the new stadium as well as the SCG next door, is slashing the price of drinks for two hours from 5pm to 7pm before Friday night’s rugby league grudge match between Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Guests can enjoy the offer while watching the NRLW grand final rematch between the Roosters and Dragons.
The same will happen on Saturday night when Australia take on South Africa in the Rugby Championships, with the All Blacks match against Argentina being played on the big screen before.
The NRL kicks off at 7.55pm on Friday and the Wallabies start at 7.35pm on Saturday.
A schooner of Furphy that would normally cost $11.10 will be down to $5.66 and a glass of chardonnay falls from $15 to $7.65.
If you really want to celebrate, you can buy a bottle of Moet and Chandon for $99.45 rather than the usual $195 at the new Bert’s outpost in the members stand.
“It’s been a very tough two years for everyone but it’s time to celebrate our recovery and the launch of the all new, state of the art Allianz Stadium,” Hemmes (pictured) said.
“This is Merivale’s gift to the people who are supporting our new, world class Allianz Stadium, the people who support our government’s important infrastructure projects, and those who supported Australia’s hospitality industry during the pandemic.”
The offer also includes soft drink, juices and water, while the group has also developed its own exclusive Margarita Seltzer and Rose Spritz cocktails for the stadium.
Earlier this month, Hemmes revealed Merivale food brands like Totti’s, Bert’s and Ms Gs would take up outposts in the stadium.
